Joseph Robertson Scratchboard Art

Fine Art of the American West

Joseph Robertson
Arizona native and long-time Prescott resident Joseph Robertson has spent his life in the arts: first as a musician and composer, then as a recording studio owner and engineer, and finally as a visual artist.
Self-taught, Joseph has worked in stone, acrylics and now scratchboard. Drawing on a life in the west, the artist's depictions of cowboy life and wildlife are intricate in detail and rustic in form.

Executive Board Meeting
Scratchboard art is an etching technique whereby a white board is covered in black india ink then
etched using hand tools such as needles and scalpels.

Gambel Quail and Cactus
Color can be brushed into the scratch after using acrylics in transparent wash.
